Purple pants and the mirror

Sadie is so playful lately. She is more aware of her surroundings and is even noticing her reflection in the mirror. It seems she always responds gleefully no matter if it is the baby in the mirror or a stranger saying hello.

Frank's Visit

Kate's childhood minister Frank was in Chicago this weekend and we hosted a family dinner in his honor.

Sadie got lots of attention from her cousins who helped dress her for bed and from Frank who fed her.

A good time was had by all!

Sleeper- just like her mama!

Sadie is in the midst of a growth spurt.

She is eating 5 oz per feeding and is sleeping a ton. Her record is 11 hours (7pm-6am). Kate is loving the extra rest.

It was only a matter of time before the Ewell genes kicked in!

Cubs Game Day

Sadie was dressed up for Cub game day.

Uncle Dave brought a new outfit so Sadie can participate in the pennant race.

Uncle Dave and Aunt Faye

Sadie met Uncle Dave and Aunt Faye in Chicago on Friday. They flew into Chicago and we spent the afternoon at the park and had dinner at Flat Top Grill.

Sadie was so excited that she slept a record 9.5 hours. Kate invited Dave and Faye to move in so she could sleep through the night.

Sadie's Wednesday

Sadie had a busy day today.

She had a morning run with Mom and Dad.

Then she met her new nanny Noelle who started today Noelle is great, worked as nanny before and at United as a flight attendant. She is getting her masters in organizational psych and is with Sadie while Kate is teaching at the Art Institute.
By the end of the day, Sadie was pooped and getting annoyed at having her picture taken (or "picture made" for those of you in TN)

Mommy brings home the bacon- Sadie at the SS Art Show

Sadie spent the afternoon with her mom and dad at her first art opening.

Kate won 4th place and a FAT cash award. Baby needs a new pair of shoes!!!

She got home and crashed in her crib on her side- her new favorite sleeping position.

Weekend

Sadie had a great weekend. She is starting to eat and sleep more- in between she is attentive and VERY expressive.

She also got her paperwork for our trip to Italy next month. We are still figuring out how she will sign her name ;-)

Dr's Visit

These are pictures of Sadie self-soothing post doctor's visit (notice the FOUR band aids on her legs).

She received 4 shots today. Sadie was an excellent patient. she screamed during the shots, but quickly fell asleep once in the sling.

Here are the stats from her doctor's report: Weight: 10 lbs 14 ozs (50th percentile); Length- 23 inches (75th percentile); Head Size (50th percentile)

Baptism

Sadie's baptism was extraordinary. Kate's minister from her childhood (who also married us) led the service. He has an amazing personal touch and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Sadie was peaceful from children's time through the whole baptism.

Blue bedspread

Sadie was all smiles after her breakfast. She is a great eater and is very happy when her tummy is full.

Family time

Sadie got to meet Uncle Ben for the first time this weekend. The whole family pitched in and got some one-on-one time with her.

First Swim

Sadie wasn't too excited about her first dip in the pool as the water hovered around 85 degrees. We tried two days in a row and she clearly enjoyed being warmed up the most.

Cousin Connon

Twenty three month old Connon got to meet Sadie for the first time. He already had her name down and was excited to meet her as you can see by his grip (Sadie's expressions are priceless). By the end of the weekend he was a southern gentleman.

Birthday visit to Aunt Mary

Sadie was the special guest at Great Great Aunt Mary's 94th birthday party. After lots of smiles she settled right in for a nap.

Sadie's first trip to Halls was this weekend. Mother and daughter witnessed their first sunrises over the pond together on the family farm (Kate liked to sleep in pre-Sadie!)
