Sunday in Lincoln Park

We spent the afternoon in Lincoln Park enjoying a mid-70s day in Chicago. After our picnic, we all took a nap and relaxed in the shade.

Friends from Champaign

Kate's friend Anne and her husband George visited Sadie on Sunday morning. Ali joined the fun to make it an Art Institute alum get together~

Sadie's First Party

Sadie and her parents hosted an engagement party for two of Ed's co-workers on Saturday night. She was the life of the party and everyone got to hold her. Sadie loved being the life of the party and stayed up until 11:30! Then she slept for 7 hours!

Daughter's Day at the Office

Sadie spent the afternoon in the Loop today. Kate's co-worker at the Art Institute had a baby shower and Sadie was the guest of honor.

She enjoyed her first trip to the museum and her favorites are La Grande Jatte by Seurat and The Old Guitarist by Picasso.

Sadie also stopped by Ed's office and met his co-workers. She had some brilliant inputs for a client proposal.

We all headed home for a nap after the productive afternoon :-)

Cousins Visit

Sadie spent the morning with her cousins Maya and Zoe. They walked to the farmers market for fresh flowers and fruit. The treat was homemade crepes from the local vendor- cheese/tomato/herbs and butter/sugar.

Tonight Kate's book club got to meet and cuddle Sadie. Lots of future baby sitters here (Ali is staying with Sadie tomorrow during Ed's b-day dinner)

Our friends Paul and Marisa also stopped by this weekend to meet Sadie. They are spoiling her already with a hip orange diaper bag and a pretty summer dress. Paul is Sadie's favorite pillow!

Weekend

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend with no out of town guests. The weather was glorious in Chicago and we had a picnic in the park. Lots of naps in between for Sadie, her parents and Pete the cat.

Grandparents part deux

Ed's parents arrived from DC to meet their first grandchild.

They were incredibily helpful while getting to know (aka spoiling) Sadie. Each day they went for a stroll to the park and Starbucks with Sadie while Ed and Kate napped.

Each day Sadie is sleeping for longer periods and eating more. You can also see from the pictures, her hair is lightening and she is really alert and active.

The changing of the guard

Jim and Donna (aka Pop and Gran) wrapped a week-long stay with us in Chicago today. They were very generous in helping us find a routine and keep our wits about us during week 1. Sadie bonded with Gran and Pop throughout the week (especially during the 11pm-1am shift.) THANKS!!!

Sadie is settling into a routine and slept for five hours last night. She is quite animated and bright eyed between naps~

Dr's Visit

Sadie had her one week check-up and received a clean bill of health.

Mom celebrated with Sadie on the porch where she struck a thoughtful pose after Kate asked her about Week 1.

Everyone is healthy and happy. We are swapping visiting grandparents on Wednesday as the Lewis family gets introduced to their first grandchild!

Sadie and Bono make a difference in Africa

Sadie shows off her new "inspi(red)" outfit. She is definitely a source of inspiration for her parents. Much more alert and active on her 5th day.

Visitors

Sadie is very lucky to have so many visitors since she came home.

Maya and Zoe are excited to have a new cousin and are ready to play.

Ed's brother Mike is in town and is an old pro already as an uncle. Grandma Carolyn is living vicarously through Mike before they visit their first grandchild next week.

We're home

After two days recovering in the hospital the Lewis family headed home on the 4th of July.

We appreciate all the emails, flowers and calls from friends and family.

Kate's parents are in Chicago to meet their new granddaughter and support our on the job training. The Young's stopped by and Sadie met Meg (one of her extended cousins and future babysitters). We ventured out on our first night for ice cream and fireworks on the lakefront.

Mom and Sadie are doing well. Everyone is healthy and happy.

We can't wait for her to meet our family and friends.
